Sri Thendayuthapani Temple is located in 15 Tank Rd, Singapore 238065.

The temple opens between 7:00 am–12 pm in the morning and again at 5:30– 8.30 pm in the evening daily. At the time writing, this temple is still undergoing some renovations, hence the temple deities were transferred to a temporary shelter towards the right-hand side of the temple and still worshipped. We hope to be able to return to this temple after its renovations are completed.

The Sri Thendayuthapani temple is quite a large temple when comparing with other temples in Singapore. This temple was completed in 1984 and it replaces an earlier temple built by Chettiars. Hence this temple is also called “Chettiar’s temple”. This temple was included as a National Monument of Singapore in late 2014.

As the name suggests, this temple is dedicated to Lord Murugan. It’s worth noting that, although Thaipusam kavadi’s are celebrated throughout Singapore, the biggest Thaipusam celebration happens at this temple. Devotees carry kavadis, starting from Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple located along 397 Serangoon Rd, Singapore 218123 and end their trip at this temple. It is a significant effort from the government of Singapore to block numerous busy roads, and accommodate this celebration.

Sri Thendayuthapani Temple is easily accessible with MRT (Fort Canning Station) as well as several busses. It also has curb-side parking right in-front of the temple along with a larger carpark across the road near Fort Canning Park.

You can also see this temple featured on two YouTube videos. The first video has the Thaipusam celebrations of 2023 and the second is an on-going series where we visit temples in Singapore. In that series, we visit Sri Thendayuthapani Temple, followed by Sri Layan Sithi Vinayagar Temple and Sri Mariamman Temple.
