 How to bake danish style butter cookies? Is it possible to bake at home?

         Yes, it is possible to bake at home. And here is the simplest recipe to make beautiful and yummy Danish style butter cookies that anyone can bake. 

Danish butter cookies are made with butter, flour and sugar. The quality of these ingredients make them crispy and sweet.

So, all you need is a good quality butter to enhance the flavour, taste and crispiness of the cookies.

Let’s get to the recipe…

Ingredients required:

  • UNSALTED BUTTER         - 1/2 CUP
  • SUGAR                                 - 1/4 CUP + 1 TBSP
  • SALT                                     - 1/4 TSP
  • EGG YOLK                          - 1
  • MILK                                    - 1 TSP
  • VANILLA EXTRACT          - 1 TSP
  • CAKE FLOUR                     - 1 CUP
  • CORN STARCH                  - 2 TBSP

BAKING TIME ⏳                    -  15 to 18 minutes
TEMPERATURE ๐ŸŒก                 -  170°C / 340°F




INSTRUCTIONS :

  1. To a clean & dry bowl, whisk the cake flour, corn starch and salt together and keep them aside.
  2. Add the unsalted butter to another clean & dry bowl and mash with a spatula. The butter has to be at room temperature. 
  3. Gradually add the sugar to the butter and whisk or use an electric beater to beat them. This step is known as the “creaming process”. This is the most important step. The sugar not just has to combine with the butter but become a like a cream in texture. Use the spatula to scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl. Beat till it becomes pale. 
  4. Now, add an egg yolk and beat the mixture together. Remember that the egg must also be at room temperature. 
  5. Now add the milk and the vanilla extract and beat them together.
  6. Finally, add the dry ingredients mixture to the wet ingredients and beat throughly till a smooth cookie batter is ready.
  7. Now, cut the corner of the piping bag, and insert 1M nozzle or any nozzle of your choice.
  8. Fill in the piping bag with the cookie batter and secure the end with a band.
  9. Place a parchment paper or butter paper or silicon baking sheet on the tray and make cookie swirls. Sprinkle some sugar on top of the cookies for more texture.
  10. Pre-heat the oven at 170°C / 340°F for 10-12 minutes.
  11. Bake the cookies at 170°C / 340°F for 15-18 minutes.
  12. Take them out once they’re baked and let them cool. And store them in airtight containers.

* NOTES : 

  •  All the ingredients must be at room temperature. 
  • Creaming of the butter and sugar is the most important step. So, do not skip.
  • Remove the cookies from the oven soon after baking to prevent loss of moisture.
