 How to make a quick potato fry at home ?

There are plenty of varieties in which potatoes can be cooked. As all of us know that potato is one among the most favourite and easiest vegetable to cook.


Among all the other recipes of cooking potato, this is one of the easiest yet a delicious way of making potato fry.


Here’s a quick guide to such a delicious recipe.

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED :

POTATOES peeled & sliced - 3

TURMERIC POWDER - 1/4 TSP

CHILLI FLAKES POWDER - 1 TSP

HOMEMADE MASALA - 1 TSP

GARAM MASALA - 1/4 TSP

CORIANDER POWDER - 1/2 TSP

SWEET PAPRIKA POWDER (OPTIONAL) - 1/2 TSP

SALT - AS REQUIRED

OIL - 3 TPBS

BAY LEAF - 1 INCH PEICE

CUMIN - 1/4 TSP

MUSTARD - 1/4 TSP

URAD DAL - 1/4 TSP

GARLIC SLICED - 3 CLOVES

BELL PEPPER/CAPSICUM CHOPPED - 1/2

SLICED ONION - 1


INSTRUCTION :

Let’s marinate the potatoes first..
  • To the sliced potatoes, add the turmeric powder, chilli flakes powder, homemade masala powder, garam masala, coriander powder, sweet paprika powder and salt and mix them together till all the potatoes have an even coating.
  • Let the potatoes marinate for a few minutes.
Now,
  1. Switch on the stove and place a pan on it.
  2. Once the pan is hot enough, add the oil and let the oil become hot.
  3. Now, add the bay leaf, cumin seeds, mustard and urad dal and let them pop.
  4. Now add the sliced garlic and sauté it for a minute.
  5. Add the chopped/cubed capsicums and sauté it for a minute.
  6. Add the sliced onions and sauté it till the onion become translucent or golden brown in colour.
  7. Once the onion turns into golden brown, add the marinated potatoes to it and mix them well.
  8. Close the pan with a lid and let it cook at medium or medium-low temperature for a few minutes.
  9. Open the lid and mix them whenever needed with letting it stick to the pan and burn.
  10. Once there’s no evidence of water and the potatoes are cooked well, turn off the stove and transfer the potatoes to a new serving bowl.
  11. Serve when hot for better taste.

NOTE :

We do not add water in this recipe. The salt in it helps the potatoes to cook and by covering the pan with a lid also speeds up the cooking process.
